There are tons of interesting things about Victor Keppler, yet so little information. He was born in 1904, and had become a successful commercial photographer in his life time. An interesting thing I found was that he was the first person to use colored commercial photography in the 1930s. This is actually really recent, and less than 100 years ago! He also was the founder of the Famous Photographers School that was in Westport, Connecticut. He was also partnered with, and advertised for Camel Cigarettes and the United States Government!
Many things Victor Keppler did with his work is admirable. As I said before, he was the first to use colored commercial photography. What I did not mention is how he used many of the elements in photography. He had a very simple background most of the time, he had the main focus in the center, and their face was almost always in an intersection for the rule of thirds. A lot of the time, he had leading lines leading to the subject. An example of these elements he used is when he took a colored photograph of a couple of ice skaters on the cover of the “Saturday Evening Post”. This was actually the first time that particular magazine ever had a colored photograph on the front. Sadly, he died in 1987. He was at an old age of 83, and a lot of his work is still recognized today. Like I said before, little is documented on the internet about Victor Keppler, but he was still an extremely successful commercial photographer in his time, and his pictures still thrive even after his death!
